CME recognizes our customers who live in the U.S. and around the globe by offering futures industry related online courses covering topics such as an introduction to futures, Options for Beginners and Technical Analysis. These online courses can benefit current and potential industry professionals. Each online course includes e-mail correspondence with an industry expert through the course administrator, an interactive bulletin board, online quizzes, a final exam and a Certificate of Achievement. CME online courses are self paced with a maximum time limit of between three and six months. Please refer to each course syllabus for specific time limitations.

  • NEW! CME Futures - an Introductory Guide (formerly Introduction to Futures) - This re-designed free online course aims to answer the most basic and common futures industry questions, such as what are futures markets, what are contracts and how do traders predict price movement.
  • Options for Beginners provides a solid introduction to options on futures trading, including the components, language and strategies of options on futures contracts.
  • An introduction to commodity marketing and trading strategies is detailed in Agricultural Commodities - The basics of Understanding Forward Pricing. If trading commodities or dealing with commodity producers, this course provides and understanding of methods of forward pricing, marketing alternatives, and hedging in the futures market.
  • Introduction to Technical Analysis is an introduction commodity market analysis based on price movements. Topics include organizing prices data, trend analysis, volume and open interest and developing a technical trading plan.
  • The Dynamics of Foreign Exchange - Learn the basics about the world’s largest markets and trading CME FX In this new, free online course.
